Verston is set to embark on a new chapter in its growth journey as it prepares for international market entry by restructuring and launching Verston Group. From pioneering sustainable infrastructure to embracing digital transformation, Verston aims to redefine the construction landscape across Europe.
According to CEO Veiko Veskimäe, the infrastructure construction and maintenance sector must undergo significant changes over the next decade to become more sustainable, while offering users greater value and multimodal solutions. “We face dual pressures from the European Union’s climate policies and the increasing expectations of individuals and communities for cleaner, more sustainable environments,” Veskimäe stated.
“These transformations can only happen through automation, digitalization, a shift to renewable energy, and material recycling. We need to think more ambitiously about the infrastructure we plan and need in the future. So far, very little has been done in our sector in this regard. We see significant growth opportunities and are ready to take responsibility,” Veskimäe explained.
Verston is aiming to become a leader in infrastructure innovation across Europe, with an ambitious ten-year plan to evolve into a top provider of sustainable multimodal infrastructure, targeting a turnover of €1 billion.
Thus far, Verston has achieved growth both organically and through acquisitions—its largest acquisition being in 2021 when Verston acquired the state-owned company, AS Eesti Teed, a major player in road maintenance. “Since our next strategic phase involves further expansion through mergers and acquisitions, we are planning to raise additional capital to support our growth. In the long term, we are also considering going public,” Veskimäe remarked.
In a strategic move to enhance leadership capabilities, Jüri Tamm—a dynamic business leader in the infrastructure sector, with extensive international experience—has joined the Verston Group’s management board as co-CEO alongside Veskimäe. “The co-CEO model, though unique in Estonia, is gaining traction globally. This structure allows us to leverage complementary skills for faster growth,” Veskimäe explained.
The core focus of Verston Group will be road construction and maintenance, enhanced by innovative technologies. The company plans to expand its portfolio to include digital products. “We believe in the power of green technologies, AI, and autonomous solutions as key drivers for advancing our core operations and introducing new innovative offerings,” Veskimäe stated.
With the launch of Verston Group, the company is also redefining its brand to emphasize sustainable practices in road construction and maintenance, prioritizing the well-being of people and the environment through advanced technological solutions.
In addition, as part of its launch, Verston Group is also actively seeking partnerships and collaborations with local firms, government agencies, and stakeholders across Europe. This collaborative approach will ensure that projects are tailored to meet the unique needs of each community while maintaining the highest standards of quality and safety.
